FAIRMOUNT - Maxine Davis, 91, well-known lifelong Fairmount resident, passed away at 6:31 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 27, 2024) at Hawthorne Inn, Danville.
Maxine was born on July 3, 1933, in Fairmount, to Oliver Neil and Zella Mae Ogg Dalbey. She married Ronald A. "Slim" Davis on Dec. 20, 1952, in Fairmount.
"Slim" survives, as well as two sons, William Ronald (Terry) Davis of Fairmount and Randall Lee (Tina) Davis of Fairmount; four daughters, Stacey Ann (John) McGee of Troy, Mich., Susan (Alan) Puzey of Fairmount, Shari (Steve) Ellis of Fairmount and Stephanie Kay Davis of Urbana; one sister, June Summers of North Carolina; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Maxine was preceded in death by three brothers, four sisters, six brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law.
She had been employed by the former Catlin IGA Store as clerk for 14 years and was a member of the Fairmount United Methodist Church. She also enjoyed yard work, keeping a very tidy home and loved taking care of her family.
Funeral services will be at noon Friday, Nov. 1, at Robison Chapel, Catlin. The Rev. Matt Filicsky will officiate. Burial will follow in Davis Cemetery, west of Fairmount. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until servicetime Friday at Robison Chapel.
