Michel Petiot Obituary

76, Life on earth ended peacefully for Michel "Mike" Petiot, Thursday, May 10, 2007 after a courageous 8 month battle with lung cancer. He was born to Marcel and Simone Petiot on August 8, 1930 in Rochecorbon, France. At age 14, he began his culinary apprenticeship in France and, in 1952, left France to work for the Governor General of Canada. In 1961, after coming to the U.S., he began a 32 year career with Marriott working in several cities and foreign countries as an Executive Chef. In 1993, at the end of his distinguished 50 year culinary career, he retired to Oak Hill, Fla. where he loved to go fishing every morning in Mosquito Lagoon and watch the sunrise. It was his favorite time of day. Michel is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Barbara; and their blended family of sons, Denis Petiot, Michel C. Petiot, Kelly McMahon; daughters, Suzette Petiot (Joe Page), Shari McMahon (Pierre Imar), Lisa Moore (Darrell); eight grandchildren, Joshua (Melissa), Justin, Nicole, Kalin, Casey, Delaney, Jeannine, and Paris; great-grandchildren, Hunter and Akira. In France, he is also survived by brothers, Jacques and Claude Petiot; sisters, Colette Lagarnaudie, Jeanine and Francoise Petiot, and Mary Rose Renoton. He is predeceased by his first wife, Jeanine; and two sons, Claude and Frank. Friends and Family are invited to a joyous Celebration of Life at the Petiot home on Indian Creek Road in Oak Hill on Saturday, May 19, at 2 p.m. We encourage you to bring pictures and share favorite memories as we celebrate the interesting life of a very special man. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Barbara,
What and amazing friendship we four had, not to many would understand it, but we do. Our friendship and love for one another will last forever. Thanks for always being there for me, and you know I will aways be there for you. True friends are very hard to find and we are very lucky and special. I love you and grieve with you.
