REGINALD McKENNA

Reginald McKenna, 80, died peacefully on Saturday, September 1, 2012 with his wife Johan of 53 years by his side. Born July 5th 1932 in Glasgow, Scotland he was the son of Douglas and Minnie McKenna. One of his fondest memories of Scotland was biking through the hills and valleys during his youth. Reggie became a master Baker while in Scotland and later joined the Royal Air Force and served during the Korean War. He also joined the Merchant Marines and a voyage to the Pitcairn Islands was one of the highlights of his travels. Reggie had a great sense of humor and a kind sweet soul. He liked the simple things in life and was happy as long as he could live near the water and be with his family. Although he lived in this country for over 50 years, he never lost his Scottish brogue or his love for the bagpipes. Reggie loved the Lord and is in glory now with Jesus. He loved to get in a good "Hallelujah" whenever he could and will be dearly missed. He is survived by his wife, Johan McKenna of Daytona Beach; his daughter Regina Sullivan of Buford, Georgia and her husband Brian; grandson Matthew; granddaughter Heather; daughter Lorna Kaplan of Wellfleet, Massachusetts and her husband Brad and granddaughter Iona. Also survived by his brother Douglas McKenna of Vero Beach, Florida and many nieces and nephews. His grandson Matthew summed Reggie up best by calling him the "Scottish Prayer Warrior". A memorial service will be held Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at 12:30 in the afternoon at Tomoka Christian Church in Ormond Beach, Florida, 1151 West Granada Blvd. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Reggie's name to Tomoka Christian Church Missions, The Gideons International, or the Diabetes Association.
