John Freeman Obituary

John "Tyler" Freeman

Springfield - The beautiful life of John "Tyler" Freeman came to an unexpected end on October 11, 2019. Tyler was an Eagle Scout, accomplished musician and gifted student with a lifetime of promise ahead of him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Tyler was born on January 25, 2001 to his biological parents Amy Hartley and John Freeman. He was raised from the age of 6 by his grandmother Danna Hartley. He was, and will continue to be, the pride of Danna's life. His life and character were also shaped by the love and caring support of Rick Dyer, who was like a father to him, and Zachary Hohensee who spent countless hours helping him with his Scouting activities. Tyler's Eagle project was the construction of raised flower beds for the Children's Wing of King's Way United Methodist Church. Some of his favorite times and stories involved his fellow scouts and their activities throughout the years.

While attending Parkview High School, where he graduated in May 2019, he was an honor student and 1st chair violin in the high school orchestra. In addition to being a full-time student at Missouri State University, he was also employed by Murney and Associates.

He was baptized and a member of King's Way United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents, Jiggs and Phyllis Neill of Buffalo.

Tyler is survived by many family members and loved ones including; Danna Hartley, Amy Hartley, Emma Howard, Jack Neill, Rick Dyer and his family, Zachary Hohensee, Aidan Cobb, Rusty, Jill, Cooper, Whitney and Isabella Neill, Patrick Murney, Clyde and Carol Lorance, Sally Clemens and his cat Lucky.

Services will be at 12:00 PM, Thursday, October 17, 2019 in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. No visitation will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Tyler's memory may be made to the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 24, National Avenue Christian Church, 1515 S. National, Springfield, MO 65804.

Danna,
My name is Sarah and I used to work for Dr Goodin and Dr Martens. I cleaned Tyler's teeth many many times over the last twelve years.
My heart is broken for you. I just couldn't believe the news when Megan texted me earlier. He was such a wonderful young man with a bright future.
You will be in my prayers these next days and the days ahead.
I'm so sorry,
Sarah

My heart is heavy with grief for the family and especially for my dear friend Danna who poured every bit of her being into raising this wonderful, caring person. I smile when I remember girlfriends trying to help with one of his ES projects only to end up with Tyler having to start over again to undo what we had tried to do. Heaven now has a new angel.

Saturday floor duty at Murney will never be the same. I would look forward to Tyler's bright smile greeting me (or anyone) waking through the front door, and I loved the conversations about school and college we had during the slow times when I was on floor duty. I am deeply saddened to know that so much promise and potential will never be realized. Gracious, kind, gentle with everyone, Tyler was not only professional, but he genuinely cared for those he came into contact with. He will be missed, even by those who only knew him briefly.

My condolences to the family and friends of Tyler. Tyler was an adorable child, always so sweet when he was at the office and was even more engaging as a young adult on the staff here at Murney Associates. Unimaginable the grief of those he has left and no words of consolation can be given. Prayers for understanding and comfort coming to Danna and Tyler's family.

Tyler always knew exactly what to tell me when it came to the tough stuff. His smile was beautiful as well as his soul. He was gentle and raw and hilarious. He was so rare and wise beyond his years. I will miss him always and my hearts go out to all.

Tyler was an amazing person to everyone, he was kind, great heart, and always looking out for others. Today, students were breaking down in tears in orchestra class, I was confused as to what happened. And Ms.Silver gave us the bad news and my heart dropped. I remember seeing him in my first hour during my freshman year for Career Development. And now he's gone, rest in peace tyler, we all love you and you will be missed. And I am deeply sorry to the family about this, no one deserves this.

You were my best friend in elementary school all the way up until today. I wish I could have stayed and made more wonderful memories with you, but unfortunately life calls and we have had to go down separate paths.

I am very grateful to have met up with you back in March and to see how much you've grown up. From the little Tyler I played and had countless sleepovers with to a kind, funny and wonderful adult.

You introduced me to gaming and the internet, a passion and activity I regularly indulge in. I remember the funny videos we used to watch and the fun games we played together. You gave me plenty of wonderful experiences like going to Orange Beach, AL and all the boy scout camps.

You were an integral part to my life and you are something I will forever keep with me.

I'll always think of you brother. I wish I could have seen you one last time.
But then again, I'm sure I will! Rest easy.
