John Leslie "Les" Macintyre

1922 - 2008

John Leslie Macintyre, 85, of Lynchburg went to be with the Lord Saturday, January 19, 2008. He was the husband of Doris Brown Macintyre. Born July 2, 1922 in Chester, Pa. he was the son of the late John Leslie, Sr. and Amelia Wallace Macintyre. Les was a US Navy WW II veteran having served on the USS Portland. He was an industrial engineer retiring in 1988 from Varian Industries in Palo Alto, Ca. He attended Rivermont Evangelical Presbyterian Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son Richard L. Macintyre. He is survived by his daughter, Peggy Macintyre and two grandchildren, Richard A. Day and Rebecca R. Swint all of Lynchburg. A funeral service will be held Tuesday 1:00 pm at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel with the Rev. John Mabray officiating. The family will receive friends today from 7-8:30 pm at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held Friday at 1:00 pm in Edgewood Memorial Park in Glen Mills, Pa.
