Robert Pearson Obituary

Robert Knight Pearson

Robert Knight Pearson was born in Lynchburg, Virginiam on February 5, 1925, to the late Robert Gill Pearson and Hunta Knight Pearson. Bob passed away on February 12, 2021, after a short period of declining health. He was predeceased by his wife Betty P. Pearson in 2017, and son-in-law, Philip M. Bracco in 2013.

Bob is survived by four children, Ted H. Pearson (Kaki) of Charlottesville, Karen P. Bracco of Rye Beach, New Hampshire, Wendy P. Moseley, and Robert K. Pearson Jr. (Martha Jo) of Lynchburg. Also by his sister-in-law, Maureen P. Olson of Santa Rosa, California. Bob had eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Bob met Betty during World War II while stationed with the Navy in Long Beach, California. They married there and returned to Lynchburg after his service ended. After graduating Lynchburg College, where he was a member of the college basketball team, Bob began his professional career in Lynchburg. He made his career at Lynchburg Foundry, rising to Vice President of Sales before his retirement. Dad loved playing golf with his friends at Oakwood, as well as working in his yard. A lifelong animal lover, Dad had many dogs and loved them all deeply, proudly sharing stories about them all.

The family wishes to express our deepest gratitude to Bob's caregivers; both in his home and especially at Edley Place.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Cremation Society of Virginia. Inurnment will be at Peakland United Methodist Church. Services for the family will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions should be directed to the Lynchburg Humane Society, Dad's favorite organization.

What can I say...Mr. Bob was a hard cookie to crumble and touched my heart in a very special way. He definitely left tracks in my heart. He will forever live in my heart.

I´m sorry to hear about Bob´s passing. I worked with Bob at Lynchburg Foundry in the Sales Dept. He was so nice and always had a laugh. He invited us girls to your parents house one year at Christmas for lunch, and I got a dip recipe from your Mother that I make to this day. My sympathy to the family.

Mr. Pearson was a Fine man, a big presence at Oakwood Country Club, a fine Golfer as far as I know. Didn't know He played Bball at LC- but I am not suprised. Reached the Big time at Lynchburg Foundry, well thought of there. He and his War Bride Betty Pearson Pearson raised a Beautiful Family- and lived next door to us in the ole Days. Betty and my Mother Ann shared a dear lifelong Friendship that was something to see. My Heart goes out to the Family.

It always made my day when Bob and Betty came to Charley´s to eat. I admired them both, they were good people who raised good kids. What better legacy can one have.

What a blessing Bob was to my life. He always smiled and talked about his dogs. He certainly missed his wife and always spoke of her ("the girl with the same last name".) Thoughts and prayers to the family. Thank you for allowing me to be a small part of Bob's life.
