Samuel Edwin Robertson, 66, of 1645 Bethany Road, Rustburg, died on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at his home. He was the husband of Pamela Giles Robertson for 39 years.

He was born on August 25, 1955, in Bluefield, W.Va., a son of the late James Edwin Robertson and LouEmma Conner Robertson. He was a retired contractor and crane operator.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Casey Robertson Layne and her husband, Blake, of Rustburg; one brother, Terry Robertson and his wife, Cindy, of Appomattox; one sister, Patricia Garrett of Appomattox; one sister-in-law, Rebecca Robertson of Rustburg; two grandchildren, Emery Diane Layne and Luke Samuel Layne; and special friends, Craig "Skeeter" Milton, Rick "Bob the Builder" White, Reggie "Greenie" Smith and Lenny Pain.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Timmy Robertson.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 p.m., Thursday, November 18, 2021, at Finch & Finch Funeral and Cremation Service, Altavista.

Sammy Robertson, the giver of big bear hugs, honest advice even if it cut, and the best big man a person could love. He would bend over backwards 20 million times for a person he loved, especially his beautiful wife and only daughter. May we always remember his strong bounding voice, powerful presence, characteristic nicknames, and a love that never questioned. He was there for his loved ones throughout life, now may we support and embrace his passing with comfort. Say his name everyday, always remember the good times, and know this is how he would want us to move forward. Love you Daddy, bigger than the universe, I beat! <3
