Dear Aunt Gloria, Matt, and Donna,

Uncle Matt was good people. There seem to be fewer of his caliber of person every year. He was always kind and considerate even at times he didn't have to be.

It has been a privilege to be related to him and to experience his happy Murphy laughter.

Sincerely,

Thomas Matthew Murphy II

Aunt Gloria, Donna, Matthew, Murphy's & extended Family members;

I unfortunately do not have abundant memories of Uncle Matthew. But as I have shared with many of you, to me he was my first and immediate Uncle. Even though I only first met him at age 26, he let me know (in word & deed) that I was unconditionally his nephew and he was my uncle. With that meeting, I met many other beloved family members.

I admired and love my Uncle Matthew. He put others before himself, even in his suffering. He saw the best in everything and everyone and brought out the best in many of us.

Like many of you, I regret he is no longer with us but am thankful he physically suffers no longer. I envy the memories close family members retain of him and it is through the sharing of each of your memories, we will all remain with him and him with us such that I can continue to learn of the legacy that was and is Uncle Matt.

God's blessing and peace to all of you with my love, T. Matthew.

Dear Aunt Gloria, Dear cousins,

It is difficult to find the words to describe the loss we all feel during this sad time. Uncle Matt was a wonderful man, a loving & kind husband, a good Father & Grandfather, and a great Uncle. He had a sense of humour that had a way of endearing everyone to him and putting a smile on all our faces. He was so generous, freely giving to others, asking for no payment other than the delight on our faces.

My fondest memories of him are surely when I was a little girl and my parents would say, "Uncle Matt and Aunt Gloria, Matty and Donna are coming today!" All 5 of us kids would sit impatiently all day long asking constantly, "When are they gettin' here?" When you arrived we'd run to hug you and Matt would throw us up into the air. After bedtime, we'd listen through the heating vent as you and my parents drank coke, ate chips with dip, played cards and talked into the night down in the kitchen. As the years passed, it was an even closer relationship that formed between both of you, myself and my little family. We have fond memories of staying with you in Long Island, the trips into NY City, the BBQ's, the delicious breakfasts, trips to Jone's Beach, etc.

Matt is an example for all of us. A man who stayed strong until the very end. He fought to stay well so he could be with his family and give them happy memories to hold on in the years to come. He loved you most of all and your support gave him even more strength and courage. Thank you Aunt Gloria for taking such loving care of him.

René, Michael, Stephane, Jessica and I share your pain. Goodbye Uncle Matt, we love you. Happy memories of you are forever etched into our hearts.

With our deepest sympathy,

Lesli and family
