Carl Cunningham was a man who loved his family and friends and working outdoors. Puttering in the garden was food to his soul. His extensive family and friends will miss him very much.

He went to be with the Lord on January 23, 2013 at his home in Chesapeake, VA.

Donald Carl Cunningham was born on December 22, 1928 in Akron, Ohio. His parents Mary Belle and Clarence Cunningham had four other children: Robert, Ronald, Richard and Eileen.

Carl and his wife Jo Ann, who went before him in 2005, had two children: Jeffrey Carl Cunningham and Leslie Lee Wright. Jeff and his wife Sherrie have three children: Jon, Jenine and Dakota. Jon and his wife Karen have two daughters: Bridget and Trinity and reside in Atlanta, Georgia. Jenine has four sons, Nic, Luc, Jac and Eddie. Carl and JoAnn lived and worked in Akron, Ohio and retired to Panama City, Florida. Carl eventually moved to Chesapeake, Virginia. While in Akron Carl built motorboats and was the owner of the car dealership Front Motors. Once they retired to Florida Carl joined the Shaddai Shrine Center as a Shriner, and was very active at the Harry Jackson Lodge 314, and was 32 degree Scottish Rite.

Throughout his life Carl and Jo Ann lived an active lifestyle. Carl enjoyed being a private pilot, scuba diving, boating, hunting, fishing and working on cars. In his later years gardening was his passion.
