Fredna Whittle Obituary

Mrs. Fredna E. Weir Whittle, 93, of Callaway, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, at a local nursing facility.

She was a graduate of Meridian High School and then later earned her Associates Degree from Meridian Junior College, in Meridian, MS, where she also lettered in basketball, archery and track. She married Alfred Whittle in 1941, and was a loving wife and mother. Sadly, she became widowed in 1948 after a tragic accident took her beloved husband from her and their three young children. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper, and is perhaps best known as the bookkeeper at the Kinney Shoe Store in Panama City in the 50s. During her lifetime, she had been an avid gardener and was a member of the Garden Clubs in Pensacola, Gulf Breeze and Panama City. She remarried in 1980 to Davis Weir; however, she lost him, as well, in 1997. Fredna was a member of the First Baptist Church of Callaway.

She is survived by one son: Ret. Capt. Alfred "Buddy" Whittle (Shirley) of Panama City; two daughters: Gertrude Elizabeth Nolin of Mobile, AL, and Rosemary Coleman (Robert) of Panama City; one brother: Ret. Lt. Col. Thomas Monsour (Eddi) of Vicksburg, MS; ten grandchildren: Scotty Whittle (Lyyli), Chris Whittle (Amanda) Butch Nolin, Jr. (Laura), Brian Nolin, Debra Brooks (Bryan) Anita Crigler (Rod), Robbie Coleman, Randy Coleman (Irene), Ronnie Coleman, and Rodney Coleman (Wendy); 27 great-grandchilren, 17 great-great grandchildren, and 10 great-great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews: her very special niece, Carol Ann Page Smolzter of Houston, TX, and Ronnie (Wendy), George (Kay), Tom (Kathy), Fred (Gracie), and David – all of Mississippi.

Fredna was preceded in death by her first husband: Alfred Whittle, Sr. in 1948; her second husband: Davis Weir in 1997; her parents: Ellis A. and Lizzie Mousour; three brothers: Abraham, George, and Fred Monsour; and three sisters: Amelia and Freda Monsour and Christine Page.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 7, 2012, at First Baptist Church of Callaway with Rev. Howard Browning officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel.

Graveside services will be at 3:00 p.m. (CST), Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at Meridian Memorial Park in Meridian, MS. Serving as pallbearers are her grandsons: Scotty, Chris, Butch, Brian, Bryan, and Rodney.

"Rest In Peace Grandma, surrounded by God's heavenly angels."
Grandma you have a very special place in my heart. Though you may be gone for awhile, we will all be together again soon. "That is God's promise to us"
I will never forget our long talks together and hearing your words of wisdom. I won't be able to watch another Braves game without thinking of you. Oh! How you loved those Atlanta Braves. I will treasure all the cups of hot tea I use to make for you, then Butch and I would sit for hours it seemed looking at your photos and listening to your stories of old.
Thank you grandma for all the wonderful memories and gifts you brought to our lives. I will miss you. You will remain in our mind and hearts forever.
Love Always,
Your're grand-daughter-in-law,
Laura

Love you mom

Our most loved Mother how much we will miss you is beyond words. Although we were Blessed that you were here with us for the many years God let us share you, it seems not near enough. As a flickering Candle burning so bright you lit up our lives, then your light was taken from us. Thank the Lord we know you too are now at peace in Heaven with our Creator & our loved ones who preceded you. Without that Belief the loss would be unbearable. We only wish we could have done even more for you & better shown the magnitude of our Love your last weeks with us. With tears in our eyes & pain in our Hearts, the Sadness of your absence still weighs heavy upon us. Yet some day we will all be joined together once again in the bliss of God's love without the worries & pains of this world. Until then Mother you will forever remain in our Hearts & Minds.
