George Capps Obituary

Rev. George Houston Capps of Panama City, FL., went to be with his savior Jesus Christ, Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013. His family was with him. He was born March 7, 1927, in Kinard, FL., to Alton and Mary Capps.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Curtis Capps and Tommy Capps; Sisters, Mildred Alderman and Thelma Burch, and son-in-law, Billy Cooper.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Valeria Capps; daughters, Sharon Cooper, Diane Hicks(Mike), and son David Capps; brothers, Paul Capps (Inez) and Bill Cloud (Johnnie); sisters, Linda Garner, Tina Walden, Dagmar Reid, and Pam Williams; five grandchildren, Charles Cooper, Casey Cooper, Christina DeClerk, Karrie Cress, Ashley Capps; and eight great- grandchildren, Joshua Hicks, Jessica DeClerk, Jaelyn DeClerk, James Michael DeClerk, Julia Cress, Matthew Register, Malissa Cooper and Wyatt Cooper.

Houston was a United States Army Veteran and served in Korea. He was self employed in the Timber and pulpwood business for the majority of his life. Mr. Capps dearly loved the Lord, which was reflected in his preaching God's Word, visiting the sick and a jail ministry, also Pastoring the Bruce Assembly of God Church in Bruce, Fl.

He was always conscious of his decisions and strived to do what he thought would be right and fair. T

he family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at Heritage Funeral Home, with services to follow at 2:30 p.m. The Rev. Donnie Jackson will be officiating. Diane, Sharon & David we're so very sorry to hear of your loss but he's in a better place now. You might not remember me but we went to the same church & school together & my name back then was Martha Sue Sanders. Diane you & I were good friends at church & at school, I recall those days like yesterday. You all are in my prayers that God will give you the peace that you need to get through this sad time in your lives. Give your mom a hug for me & may God comfort all of you at this time of loss.
