Harry Daniels Jr.

BELFAST — Harry Daniels Jr., 95, formerly of Belfast, passed away peacefully in his sleep Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, in the Belle Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Quakertown.

He was born March 14, 1918, in Orange, N.J., the eldest of three children born to the late Harry Sr. and Blanche Elizabeth (Olivet) Daniels. During his formative years, Harry's home was Myersville, N.J., where his father operated a small truck farm.

Later, as a soldier in the U.S. Army, he honorably served his country during World War II with the 329th Depot Supply Squadron and the 313th Depot Repair Squadron from 1942 to 1946, in the Pacific Theatre.

Harry married Anna May Gaydon Daniels, who passed away in 2011. Together, they shared 68 years of marriage.

Subsequent to the war, Harry worked in various capacities for the New Jersey Bell Telephone Company until his retirement and pursuit of numerous interests.

His hobbies included gardening, woodworking, tinkering, hunting, fishing and all kinds of home repairs and maintenance.

In the later years of his beloved Anna's life, he was always there to attend to her every need. As a source of comfort, it is believed that Harry's passing will finally reunite him with his sweetheart for Valentine's Day.

Through the years, Harry was a good provider for his family and a reliable parent to his four children. He lived a full life and helped many of those around him. May he rest in peace.

Surviving are two sons, Ronald W. and his wife, Cynthia, of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Alan P., of Branford, Conn.; a daughter, Donna J. Quelly and her husband, Michael, of Quakertown; four grandchildren, Becki Magistad and her husband, Patrick, Amanda Holty and her husband, Mathew, Alison Quelly Oswald and her husband, Joshua, and Carolyn Quelly; five great-grandchildren, Mara, Riva, and Conor Magistad, and Patrick and Lucille Holty, and a sister, Ruth Daniels Barber, of North Glen, Colo.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his eldest son, Robert Harry Daniels in 2011, and a brother, Paul Daniels.

DANIELS — Harry Daniels Jr., 95, formerly of Belfast. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Wesley United Methodist Church of Belfast, 607 School Road, Nazareth (Belfast). Burial will follow in Belfast Union Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Schmidt Funeral Home, 202 West St., Wind Gap.
