SHAMOKIN - John R. Hornberger, 68, of Upper Road, Shamokin, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
He was born March 12, 1955, in Shamokin, a son of the late John W. and Nancy J. (Shipe) Hornberger. He lived most of his life in West Cameron.
John was a 1973 graduate of Line Mountain High School. He was last employed at Merck. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church West Cameron. A life member of Trevorton Fire Company and formerly active with the Boy Scouts. John enjoyed collecting trains.
He is survived by a daughter, Erica Piatt, a son, William Hornberger, two grandchildren, Talon and Jaxton, a brother, James Hornberger, four sisters, Carol Herb, Donna Hornberger, Ellen Reed and Lisa Hornberger, and two special cousins, Robin Kerstetter and Dan Bordner.
HORNBERGER - John R. Hornberger, 68, of Upper Road, Shamokin. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Jodie Ellis officiating at the Robert G. Foust Jr. Funeral Home, 841 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton. A viewing will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of services. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery West Cameron. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in John's memory to, Central Susquehanna Sight Services, 348 Market St., Sunbury, PA 17801, or East Cameron Township Fire Company, 4628 Upper Road, Shamokin, PA 17872.
