STONINGTON - On Sunday, May 7, 2023, William John "Pappy" Thomas, 62, of Stonington, passed away with his family by his side.
He was born at Holy Redeemer Hospital, in Warminster, Nov. 25, 1960, a son of Bernard and Lois (Kerstetter) Thomas.
He was a 1979 graduate of Shamokin Area High School.
Bill worked as an electrician at Knoebels for 18 years, as well as contracting with Al McWilliams.
Bill loved family picnics, listening to music, Fords and Mustangs, NASCAR, woodworking, hunting and peanut butter. But he loved being a Pappy and spending time with his family the most.
Bill is survived by his wife of 39 years, Shelley (Barto) Thomas, of Stonington; his son, Billy and his wife, Jeneen; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Molly and Henry, of Stonington; siblings, Bernadette Chaundy, JoAnna Melchisedech, Edward, Andrew and Matthew Thomas, Lois Shuman, Lari Thomas-Ivancich, Linda Thomas, and their spouses; a sister-in-law, Wendy Baxter and her husband, Terry; brothers-in-law, Herb and Hal Barto; an aunt, Martha Herman; uncles, Jack Kerstetter and "Uncle" Bill Kerstetter; and many nieces, nephews and cousins whom he loved very much.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, Bernard; his mother, Lois; and a son, Carl "Stevie" Stevens.
THOMAS - William John "Pappy" Thomas, 62, of Stonington. In keeping with Bill's wishes, a private service will be held for his family members. The Thomas family is being assisted by the James Kelley Funeral Home, James F. Kelley, director, 1001 W. Arch St. at Maple Street, Coal Township.
