Ann Hull Obituary
Ann Louise Hull
Durham
Ann Louise Hull, formerly Ann Louise Harry, died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 in her room at Croasdaile Village in Durham, NC.
Ann was born 1939 in Cottage Grove, OR, but lived much of her early life in the small town of Canyonville, OR where her parents owned and operated Gordon's Drugstore. During her childhood, Ann's family lived directly above the drugstore itself. It was a life of gentle childhood adventures for Ann and her younger sister, Jean.
Upon graduation, Ann attended Oregon State University in Eugene where she studied and earned a degree in Secretarial Sciences. In 1962 she met and married James Wendell Hull, a handsome Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. He was full of Mid-Western charm and hailed from Champaign, IL. During his twenty years in the USAF, the couple lived in many interesting locations. They had two lovely little girls: Kristen Marie and Julie Ann.
Ann used her degree (and later earned a Master's Degree in Business) as a teacher and eventually a dean at a small college in Birmingham, AL. Before retiring, she also worked as an administrator at the University of Alabama in Birmingham Medical Center.
Upon retirement, Ann and Wendell moved to Durham, NC to help with grandchildren. Ann has remained happily in Durham until her death. During her life she loved being with family, growing flowers in her yard, playing with her little dog GG, and attending musicals at the Durham Performing Arts Center.
She is survived by her husband, James Wendell Hull, and her daughters and their families as well as by her dear sister, Jean Anderson. These loved ones will hold a private family memorial in the rose garden of Duke Memorial United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers the family welcomes donations to the Croasdaile Village Benevolent Fund, 2600 Croasdaile Village Farm Parkway, Durham NC 27705.
