Jesse Kalisher, age 55, died peacefully surrounded by family on July 20, 2017 at his home in Chapel Hill. Husband, dad, entrepreneur, artist, pilot, writer, public speaker, columnist, scuba diver, businessman, radio talk-show host, mentor, activist, storyteller, philanthropist.
Jesse was born on June 22, 1962 in New York, NY to Simpson Kalisher and the late Ilse Kahn Kalisher and was married to Helen Westwood Kalisher. Jesse went to Fieldston High School in the Bronx, NY and earned a Bachelor's degree in economics from Northwestern University in 1984. He met Helen, the love of his life, while both were traveling in Guatemala and they were married in August 2000. Jesse was the founder and President of Kalisher, a highly successful art company based in Carrboro, North Carolina. Survivors include Jesse's wife and partner in everything, Helen; his son Jordan; his daughter Tamar; his siblings Amy, David and Allon; his father Simpson; extended family and countless friends.
