Lillian W. Hardy

Mrs. Lillian Whitfield Hardy, 86, died on Thursday, December 6, 2007.
Born December 15, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Byrant and Lillian Bessie Moore Whitfield.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Blount Hardy; son, Allen Blount Hardy, Jr.
Mrs. Hardy was a member of the Hookerton United Methodist Church where she served as the Treasurer for 25 years. She was named Lay Person of the year in 1989. A graduate of Contentnea High School, Kings Business College and Hardbargers College. Mrs. Hardy attended Lenoir Community College and the Institute of Government at UNC at Chapel Hill. She was employed by the Town of Hookerton as the Town Clerk from 1966 until her retirement in 1989.
Her surviving family includes her daughter, Ann Hardy Herring and husband, Jerone of Montreat; sons, Charles Hardy and wife, Betty of Richmond, VA, Stuart Hardy and wife, Barbara of Arapahoe, Allen Hardy and wife, Leigh of Hookerton; grandchildren, Bradley Herring of Rocky Mount, Ansley Herring Wegner of Apex, Andrew Hardy of San Francisco, CA, Chris Hardy and Michael Hardy both of New Bern, Kristen Hardy Flippen of Pikeville, and Jonathan Hardy of Greenville; great-grandchildren, Connor Herring and Isabel Herring both of Rocky Mount, and Duncan Wegner of Apex; sister, Faye Whitfield Harrelson of White Rock, SC.
The family will receive friends at Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service, 117 NW Third Street, Snow Hill, on Friday, December 7, from 6:00-8:00 p.m..
A Memorial Service will be held at the Hookerton United Methodist Church 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 8, 2007. Memorials may be made to the Hookerton UMC Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 10, Hookerton, NC 28538, although flowers are welcomed.
