Chapel Hill, North Carolina - Margaret Elizabeth Spradley Evans died at Carolina Meadows, Chapel Hill, NC on September 30, 2021 at the age of 94. Margaret was born to the late Earl M. Spradley and Delories Frahlich Spradley in Boonville, Indiana.
She is survived by her four children, Allene Delories Evans, Mary Margaret Evans Tate, Thomas Downing Evans, Elizabeth Evans Kittrell and their beloved spouses, children, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and her sister Carolyn Spradley Carlson and family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Allen Douglas Evans and her brothers Norman Spradley and Earl Spradley.
Known as "Sis" around Boonville by family and friends, she would get a kick out of telling people she was born in the Warrick County jail and later explain that her father Earl was the Sheriff. After the outbreak of World War II, she took a job with the Boonville Standard filling in as a Sports Reporter. As one of the first women to be allowed in the press box, she never lost her love and passion for sports. After Margaret and Allen were married, they moved to Cleves, Ohio where they lived for 45 years. Margaret was a devoted wife and mother who participated in Womens Club, Girl Scouts, and numerous other civic and church activities. She was a faithful member of the Cleves Presbyterian Church and later the University Presbyterian Church of Chapel Hill. She was the oldest surviving member of the American Legion Post 200 in Boonville, Indiana.

A burial service will be held at a later date in Boonville, Indiana arranged through Koehler Funeral Home.
