Minnie Mabry Obituary

Minnie Lee Cole Mabry, 92, passed away on Monday, Jan.25, at Wake Med hospital in Raleigh, surrounded in love by her two daughters.
A native of Wake Forest, she was one of eight children born to Ida and Walter Cole and was the only one of the children to finish high school. She accomplished this feat while also working full time at Royal Cotton Mill to help support her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Leland Mabry and son-in-law, Alan Evans. She met Leland when he was a student at Wake Forest College and pastoring at Glen Royal Baptist Church.
Surviving are: her sister and brother, Estelle and Marlon Cole of Wake Forest: her daughters, Betty Evans of Apex, Janie Weber of Princeton, NJ and her husband, Joe; four grandsons, Ivan Evans of Newton, NC and his wife, Kris Anne, Erik Evans of Raleigh, Scott Evans of Charlotte and his wife, Elizabeth, and Daniel Weber of Princeton, NJ, plus life-long friends, Lola Ann and Max Jarrell of Asheboro, NC.
She will be remembered fondly for her strong and independent spirit and her admirable courage for withstanding years of debilitating pain as a result of an auto accident in 1949. She was a people person, inviting new friends and community leaders into her home for meaningful discussions and fellowship. Her devotion to her Christian faith was ever present.
Her family was blessed to have had a remarkable mother, sister, grandmother and aunt whose faith was uplifting and motto to always stand up for what is right was inspiring. Her friends marveled at her zest to broaden her horizons and appreciated that she was such a good listener and mentor.
The family wishes to express their thanks for all the kindness shown by so many including the new friends she made at the Hillside Nursing Home where she resided for the past 22 months.
A memorial service celebrating Minnie Lee’s life will take place on Sunday, Jan. 31st, at 3:00 p.m. at Glen Royal Baptist Church, 731 Elizabeth Ave, Wake Forest.
The family has asked that floral donations be limited to potted flowering plants, so that in the spirit of love these pots of cheer can be distributed to the sick and homebound.
Memorial contributions may be made to Glen Royal Baptist Church.
