Sarah Bennett Obituary
January 22, 1933 - February 3, 2012
Raleigh
Sarah Godwin Bennett, 79, of Raleigh entered Heaven on Friday, February 3, 2012, to be with her Heavenly Father after a four-year battle with colon cancer. Her family was by her side. She truly fought this battle with God by her side every step of the way. Sarah worshipped the Lord as a member of Temple Baptist Church for close to fifty years.
Surviving are her daughter, Vickie Whitman and her husband, Donnie, of Newport, NC; son, Robert Bennett and his wife, MaDonna, of Clayton, NC; grandsons, Jacobe Jones, Eric Bennett, and Jeremy Bennett; step-granddaughter, Kelly Whitman; great-grandchildren, Jaxon Jones, Cooper Jones, and Aniston Jones; step-great-grandson, Matthew Tedder; sisters, Vera Cotton and Loral Ammons; and brothers, R. L. Godwin and L. W. Godwin, Jr.
Preceding Sarah in death were her beloved husband, Robert E. Bennett, Jr.; parents, L. W. ad Versel Godwin, sister, Faye Lovick, and brother, James Godwin.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 A. M. at Temple Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 831 Wake Forest Road, from 6 until 9 P. M. Monday.
The family would like to thank all of the staff at Rex Cancer Center, Rex Hospital, Hospice of Wake County, and Hospice of Carteret County. The concern, kindness, and compassion shown by all of you are greatly appreciated. May you all be as blessed as our mother was.
Flowers are appreciated or donations may be made to either Hospice of Wake County or Hospice of Carteret County.

I will miss you grandma you fought a long hard fight and it was worth every second that I spent with you on the Fridays that we would just sit and talk and nap together. Love you always and you will never be forgot.
