Eleanor Tropsa Obituary

Eleanor F. Tropsa Eleanor F. Tropsa a longtime resident of Stamford and recent resident of Ridgefield, passed away Friday, August 14, 2009 at her home. She was born in Stamford, October 13, 1923 to the late Joseph M. Nosal and Mary Nosal. She was 85. Eleanor graduated from Stamford High School in 1941 and worked for GE Credit Corp until her retirement. She was an active member of several associations, including The Stamford and Ridge-field Women's Clubs, Goodwives Quilting Club in Darien, Horizon Quilters in Ridgefield, The Ridgefield Senior Center and Polish National Alliance. In addition, she was involved in charitable work to promote education and to support The Connecticut Veterans Hospital in Rocky Hill. She was known for her love, kindness and generosity to her family, friends and neighbors. Eleanor was the cherished mother of Frank J. Tropsa of Monroe, Donna C. Tropsa of White Plains, N.Y., Jon E. Tropsa of Stamford and Atlanta, Ga., Marilyn J. Furtak of New Fairfield and James L. Tropsa of Darien. She was a proud and devoted grandmother of Christopher J. Furtak, Gregory M. Fur-tak, Andrew M. Furtak of New Fairfield, Danielle N. Tropsa, Allyson Trop-sa of Ridgefield, Stefan J. Tropsa, Paul A Tropsa of Monroe and Emily M. Tropsa, Kathleen E. Tropsa of Darien. She is also survived by two brothers, Joseph J. Nosal and Daniel F. Nosal of Stamford and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank J. Tropsa. Calling hours will be held in the Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Rd., Darien, Monday, August 17, 2009 from 3 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Holy Name Roman Catholic Church, 4 Pulaski Street, Stamford, Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at 11 a.m. There will be a private family interment at Fairfield Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Stamford Women's Club Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 16793, Stamford, CT 06905.
