Died: October 16, 2023 in LaSalle, IL
Cletus Otto Koester, 90, of Ottawa, passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023 at the Illinois Veterans Home in LaSalle.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, October 21, 2023 at the Mueller-Pagani Funeral Home in LaSalle. Full military rites will be conducted by the Peru Veterans Memorial Group. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, October 23, 2023 at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Hillside.
Cletus was born on February 25, 1933 in Baldwin to Henry and Rosa (Rowald) Koester. He married Anita Buch on January 30, 1954. After completing military service in March, 1955, Cletus attended DeVry Institute of Technology in Chicago. After graduation, Cletus spent nearly 30 years in the computer industry as a maintenance engineer. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hillside for 39 years, Calvery Lutheran Church in Watseka for 15 years and attended Immanuel Lutheran Church in Elmhurst. Cletus enjoyed golf, watching sports, and traveling.
Survivors include three children, Brian (Pamela) Koester of New London, MO, Debra Railsback of Ottawa, and Gary (Doreen) Koester of Somonauk; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and his sister, Leola Sheeler of Sparta.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Anita; and his brothers, Victor and Vernon Koester.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
