1937 - 2016

SHORT GAP - Mary F. (Offutt) Alt, 78, of Short Gap, died on Saturday, February 20, 2016
at The Dawnview Center.

Born December 31, 1937 in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Charles S. Offutt, Sr. and Gertrude (Ellsworth) Offutt.

She was also preceded in death by her brother, Charles "Chazz" Offutt, Jr. and her sister, Ann S. Athey.

Mrs. Alt was a 1956 graduate of Ursuline Academy She also attended Catherman's Business School.

She belonged to SS. Peter & Paul Shrine – Our Lady of the Mountains Parish.

Her husband's work with the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company took them to Illinois for several years. Upon returning to the area, she enjoyed her participation with the Bel Air Garden Club.

Survivors include her husband, William K. Alt; two daughters, Lynn Alt Howard and husband James, Des Moines, IA, and Julie Alt Levine and husband Alex, Annandale, VA; five grandchildren, Brian Howard, Kelsey Howard, Jamie Howard, Owen Levine, and Charlotte Levine; and, a great, granddaughter, Remy Howard. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Dan Offutt.

Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene Street, Cumberland, on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at SS. Peter & Paul Shrine on
Thursday, February 25, 2016 at 1:00 PM.

Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Dan Offutt, Chris Offutt, Tim Martin, Ray Athey, and Alex Levine.
