Terry Brooks Obituary

Terry McClung Brooks passed away on Monday, October 9, 2023, at his home in Waynesboro, VA, surrounded by loved ones.

He was born on August 19, 1933, in Raphine, VA, son of James Everett and Annie Blanche (Hite) Brooks.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Irvin Stanley, and sisters, Audrey Bainey, Lena Phillips, and Nannie Hamilton.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Joyce Sensabaugh Brooks; his children, Terry McClung (Pam) Brooks II, Melinda (Jeff) Bright, James (Lisa) Brooks, and Stanley (Alecia) Brooks; grandchildren, Staci (Dwight) Seamster, Amber (Derek) McLain, Justin (Andrea) Bright, Terry Brooks III, Rebekah (Greg) Gibson, Kristen Brooks, Caleb (Ashley) Brooks, Alexis Brooks, and Peyton Brooks; great-grandchildren, Brooke (Forest) Ritchie, Tyler Seamster, Hailey McLain, Ayden Bright, Madison McLain, Makenzie Bright, Walker Gibson, Brooks Gibson, James Brooks, and John Brooks; and great-great-grandchildren, Fisher Ritchie and Paige Ritchie.

Mr. Brooks served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany, 1953-1955. He worked at General Electric/Genicom for 37 years. He was an avid gardener, enjoyed woodworking, hunting with family, and was recognized for donating over 100 gallons of blood to the Red Cross over his lifetime.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 13, 2023 at Mount Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 6410 Lee Jackson Highway, Raphine, with Pastor Mike Woods officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. on Friday at Blue Ridge Chapel Church of the Brethren, 19 Browns Lane, Waynesboro. Following the visitation, a memorial service will be held at 3 p.m.

Active pallbearers will be Peyton Brooks, Caleb Brooks, Justin Bright, Terry Brooks III, Derek McLain, and Dwight Seamster.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Regency at Augusta for caring for him during his final months.
