Charles Metzel Obituary

OKEECHOBEE - Charles H. Metzel Jr, "Chuckem" died unexpectedly on Friday, July 15, 2016 with his loving nurse Terri Campbell by his side at the Lawnwood Regional Medical Center, Fort Pierce, Florida. Charles was born in Champaign Illinois on Oct. 22, 1933 to Charles Himes Metzel, Sr. and Mildred Cornelia Dowling. Chuck proudly served our country in the United States Army for three years during the Korean conflict receiving an Honorable Discharge Oct. 15, 1956. He was a longtime resident of Okeechobee. He stayed busy systematically enjoying pulling pranks on his neighbors and friends in addition to working on architectural drawings for various local construction contractors. His parents preceded him in death. Charles is survived by two daughters, Susan Hall of Monticello, Illinois with husband Randy and Jane Cox of Castle Rock, Colo., with her husband Christopher, and an enormous amount of loving friends throughout the Okeechobee area. His eternal internment is scheduled for 1:30 p.m., Thursday Sept. 29, 2016, at the South Florida National Cemetery, Lane 5 with Military Honors.
