Diane Thompson Obituary

Diane Thompson
September 4, 2024
Diane Fisher Thompson, of Branford, passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully, on the morning of September 4, 2024. Born in New Haven on April 26, 1953, she was the cherished daughter of William and Vera Fisher of Orange, CT.
A graduate of Southern Connecticut State University, Diane furthered her education with a degree in Dietetics from St. Joseph College. Diane's dedication to helping others became her life's mission after her father survived a heart attack, leading her to a fulfilling career as a Registered Dietician. Diane's compassionate care touched many lives across numerous facilities throughout the state, as well as her commitment to improving not only the health and well-being of her patients, but to help bring smiles to their faces.
Diane's greatest joy came from her role as a grandmother. She adored her grandchildren - Arthur, Theodore, and Henry and eagerly anticipated the arrival of her first granddaughter. Her boundless generosity and deep affection were evident in every moment she spent with them, creating memories that will be cherished by her family forever. Her grandchildren will fondly remember her warm hugs, infectious laughter, and genuine love.
Diane also held a special place in her heart for the beach, particularly the summers spent at Long Beach Island with her family - a tradition started by her parents and lovingly carried on to this day with her husband, kids, and her grandchildren. Those summer days were filled with joy and togetherness, and the stories and laughter shared on those sandy shores will forever be a testament to the warmth and joy Diane brought into the lives of those around her.
Diane is survived by her devoted husband, Richard; her loving sons, Ryan (Valerie), and Michael (Megan); her beloved grandchildren: Arthur, Theodore, Henry, and the newest addition on the way. She is also remembered with love by her brother, Douglas (Margaret); her late sister, Sharon, and her brother in-law William (Judith). She also leaves behind her spoiled and loyal four-legged companion, Red. Diane is also mourned not only by family, but a wide circle of friends whose lives she enriched every day.
Diane will be remembered for her unwavering kindness, generosity, and the immense love she shared with her family and friends. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and her legacy of compassion and joy will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
Calling hours will be held at W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St., Branford, on Tuesday, September 10th, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm to remember Diane's life and the profound impact she had on all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Diane Thompson Memorial Fund at W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home with the proceeds going towards a memorial bench in her happy place, Long Beach Island.
There will also be a gathering in the celebration of Diane's life on Saturday, September 14th, from 11:00-3:00pm at her son Ryan's house (33 Dream Lake Drive in Madison). All are welcome to stop by and come share stories and memories with friends and family at any time.

My connection with Diane was due to her so Ryan marrying my daughter Valerie. We soon realized we were both from Orange both same name we figured this is goig to be good! It was wonderful! SoecialmLunches that lasted way into dinner! Telling the waiters hostess, hey our kids are getting married! We coukdnt be more thrilled. I'm so saddened by this loss as I was so looking forward to sharing our new grandaughter to be. I feel she will see her but it's not the same as sharing here with her. Rich , Ryan, Mike are a beautiful example of a loving family. I will miss you so much as will your family forever!

November 9th,1965 Diane and I were playing downstairs in the basement of her house in Orange,Ct.All of a sudden all the lights went out.It was the great northeast blackout of `65.We had so much fun looking for flashlights and candles. Our parents didn´t think that night was fun,but for us,it was spooky fun and very memorable.Later that week we appeared in the school talent show and danced to the song "Me and My Shadow" We practiced for hours to be totally synchronized, and it paid off! We got a huge round of applause! Those two memories with my childhood friend have always brought back a smile to my heart......
