Edwin Schaefer Obituary
Schaefer, Edwin Friedman, 94, of New Haven, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday July 28", 2018. For 69 years, he was the devoted husband of Lorrie Schaefer. Born in New Haven, CT, on November 16th, 1923. He was the son of the late Frank & Anna (Cohen) Schaefer. Beloved Father of Leslye (Michael Horehlad) Schaefer of Westbrook, CT. and Allan & Alixs Schaefer of Wellington, Florida. Cherished grandfather of Jeremy & Ari. He was the dear brother of the late Bernard (Sarah) Schaefer, Marvin (Norma) Schaefer and Rosalind (Martin) Savitsky. He also leaves many loving nieces and nephews, and friends. Edwin served as a lieutenant in the Air Force during WW2 and flew over 45 missions in Italy. After graduating from UConn, Edwin joined the firm Bailey, Moore, Glazer, Schaefer & Prato, where he became partner and worked as a well respected CPA for many years. An active member of the community, Edwin served on the Board of the Jewish Home for the Aged and was one of the original founders and President of Oak Lane Country Club. After he retired, Edwin spent many years in the Dominican Republic as a part-time resident.
Funeral Services at Cong. B'nai Jacob, 75 Rimmon Rd., Woodbridge on FRIDAY, Angust 3rd at 12:00 NOON with Interment Service to follow at the B'nai Jacob Memorial Park, 200 Wintergreen Ave., Hew Haven.
