Michael McManus Obituary

Michael Lawrence McManus, Ph.D., 85, beloved and devoted husband of Katherine (D'Antonio) McManus, passed away on November 16, 2023.
Born in Chicago, IL, December 8, 1937, he was son of the late Lawrence P. and Mary (Selle) McManus.
Mike was a research scientist with the USDA Forest Service in Hamden, CT, for his entire career, which began in 1966 after earning his Ph.D. in Forest Entomology from Purdue University. He retired in 2010 after 41 years of service and was an active emeritus scientist up to the time of his death.
In addition to his wife, Katherine, Mike is survived by his son Brian McManus, step-son Nick DeCapua and his fiancée Shawn Dapp, his cherished grandson, Eli DeCapua, and special grandchildren Allison and Connor Dapp. Predeceased by his son, M. Patrick McManus. Mike leaves many dear friends and colleagues both here and around the world. He will be remembered as a loving, caring, kind and insightful man. 'You colored my world.' Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial mass on Monday, January 15, 2024, 10:30 a.m., at Blessed Sacrament Church of St. Paul IV Parish, 321 circular Ave., Hamden, CT. Burial will be private.
