Raymond Morelli Obituary

MORELLI, RAYMOND "MOE" Raymond "Moe" Morelli, 76, of Woodbridge, formerly of West Haven, devoted and loving husband of 53 years to the late Barbara J. Sanderson Morelli, passed away November 22, 2011 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. He was born in New Britain, CT, December 23, 1934, son of the late John and Mary Chiaputti Morelli. He was a longtime resident of West Haven and owned and operated Morelli Florist for more than 50 years. In his younger days he served in the National Guard. and enjoyed playing softball. He was a league bowler at Woodlawn Lanes and an avid golfer at Racebrook Country Club and a former past president of Orange Hills Country Club. He was a member of the Lions Club, The West Haven Elks Lodge #1537, and The West Haven Italian American Club. He was a Shriner and Past Master of Trumbull Lodge No. 22 at the New Haven Masonic Temple, serving two terms in 1978 and 1979. He is survived by his children, Raymond Morelli and his wife Carol of West Haven, Mari-jean Morelli of Cheshire, Michael Morelli and his wife Donna of Columbia, SC, and Michele Morelli of Orange. He leaves his grandchildren, Brittney Lucibello and Richard Lucibello Jr. of Orange, Michael Morelli Jr., U.S. Army stationed in Iraq, Brian Segal and Lauren Segal of Cheshire, Dakota Morelli, Madison Morelli; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two daughters, Debra Ann and Cheryl Ann Morelli; and his sister, Virginia Morelli Bruno. His funeral will be from Keenan Funeral Home, 238 Elm Street, West Haven on Wednesday at 9:00 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Holy Infant Church, Orange. Burial will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call from 5-7 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.
