Ronald Berube Obituary

Ronald R. Berube
December 24, 2023
On December 24th, 2023, Ronald R. Berube of Guilford, passed away peacefully, with family by his side. Born in Hartford, CT on March 15, 1933, he was the son of the late Napolean and Jeanette (Boucher) Berube. In addition to his parents, Ron was predeceased by his wife Margaret (Bowman) Berube, his sister and brother-in-law Patricia and Roger Cowles, his father and mother-in-law Joseph and Bridget (Foley) Bowman, and his sister-in-law Mary Cowles and brother-in-law Joseph Bowman.
Ronald was a graduate of Buckley High School and attended the Connecticut School of Electronics, which aided him while being self- employed as a Home Contractor.
Also, Ron honorably served his country in the US Air Force as a navigator.
On August 3, 1957, Ron married Margaret and began his family in Manchester, CT before moving to Guilford in 1966. Ron leaves behind his 5 beautiful children that he was so proud of, Dr. R. Robert Berube (Bethanie) of Manchester, ME, Ellen Cocco (Rob) of Sterling, VA, Lisa McMinn (William) of Madison, CT, Paula Conway (Michael) of Bethel, CT, and Michael Berube (Kristin) of Guilford, CT. He also leaves 9 grandchildren, Krystina Angelini (Nick), Kayla Bowman (David), Trevor and Spencer McMinn, Bridget, Casey and Lindsey Conway, Gabrielle, and Faith Berube along with 4 great- grandchildren whom he loved and adored immensely and affectionately called him "Gamps" and several nieces and nephews to whom he was "Uncle Bob".
Ron listened to all kinds of music, from Operas to fife and drum. He enjoyed reading and traveling, and went to Europe many times. He also enjoyed the outdoors from kayaking, camping, and sailing. When Ron first moved to Guilford, his career provided him with the opportunity to work on some of the America's Cup Sailboats. Above all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Friends are invited to visitation hours on Friday, April 12 from 10 - 11:30 a.m. at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St., Guilford, followed by a prayer service at 11:30 at the Guilford Funeral Home. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ronald's name can be made to The Guilford House Recreation Fund, 109 West Lake Avenue, Guilford, CT 06437. My condolences to the Berube family. Your Dad did a lot of work for the Sherman family in Killingworth and Madison. I´ll never forget when one of their corn cribs burned down and Ron hired me to help him clean up the mess. We had so much fun and laughed throughout the project. Your parents were key in my life and I learned so much from them both as they shared their experience, strength and hope with so many.
R.I.P. Ron
