BIVONA, WILLIAM (BIFF) William (Biff) Bivona, 60, of Middlebury passed away peacefully on November 18, at his home in the loving presence of his wife and soulmate, Mary Lou (Brett), and children, Kathleen, Jackie, Joe, and Bill. Biff was born on July 28, 1955 in Stamford to Anthony and Dorine (Holland) Bivona. He had a gentle personality that was evident through his music, his painting, and his love for his family. In addition to his wife, children, and mother, Biff is survived by his siblings Dan and wife Jeanne, Lyn and husband John, Kristen and husband Richard, Andy, Kerry and husband Ned, and P.J. and wife Michele. He is also survived by his father-in-law Joe Brett, brother-in-law Bob Brett, sisters-in-law Kathy Callahan (Dan) and Rosemarie Murray, and best friend of 45 years, Skip Shaw. Biff has many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who remain to celebrate his life. He was greeted in heaven by his father Tony, sister Monica, and mother-in-law Lucille. The family would like to thank Dr. Joseph Bowen and his wonderful staff for their unwavering kindness and compassion over the years. A Mass celebrating Biff’s life will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at 11:00 am at St. Peter and Paul Church, 67 Southmayd Road, Waterbury, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center, 1075 Chase Pkwy.Waterbury CT 06708. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck.

I cannot believe that Biff has passed! Although it has been years since we last saw each other Biff was a kind gentle soul. I have nothing but fond memories. I had no idea that he had passed! I hope you are at rest my friend! Mary lou and Kristen I'm so sorry for your loss.

Biff and I went to St. Cecilia's together and started bands in 8th grade and for long after that. In my senior year I went to Stamford High and Biff would pick me up in his old VW bug that had the floor rusted out and it was an interesting ride to school in the rain. Although I have not seen him in years, I am so sad to hear of his passing. He was a gentile soul and a very talented musician and taught me things that I would have never figured out on guitar. He had at an early age a great ear for music. I offer my thoughts and prayers to Biff and his family. R.I.P. my friend, you will be remembered.

To the Bivona Family...Biff and your family have fought and supported each other during these past difficult years. Now more then ever cling to one another for strength and courage to face your grief. Be blessed with all the wonderful and beautiful memories for they will sustain your thoughts and love in your heart for your husband/father forever.

Biff and I went to Stamford HS together and had classes together through all those years. I always sat in the first seat in the front row and your Dad always sat behind me. A, B, alpha seating. Your Dad was always a quiet gentle man with a small smile hidden on his face and a sparkle in his eyes behind those glasses of his. He was a sensitive and wonderful man as a boy and it shows that passion continued as he had his amazing family he and your Mom created.
You have truly been blessed and he will forever keep in your hearts.

Biff was a good friend from our high school years and after. We all hung out together for many years. He used to sneak us into the movies when he worked at Ridgeway Theaters where Skip was the manager. So many stories and fun times we all shared. Biff was a kind, gentle, fun person who we all enjoyed being around. Although it has been many years since I've seen him, I'll always recall him with a smile. Thanks for the friendship Biff.
