Stephen Gallagher Obituary

Stephen "Stretch" Gallagher, 61, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, with his loving wife, Patti, and his two boys, Billy and Deny, by his side.
Steve owned and operated Community Fire Equipment for 30 years, but his real passion was outside of the office. Prior to going into business for himself, he was an athletic trainer for the Philadelphia Bell of the World Football League. Gallagher coached youth soccer and basketball. In addition, Steve was a volunteer with both the Shark River Hills and the Vernon Township fire departments.
Gallagher provided an excellent example in courage and strength during his long battle with lupus, which he was first diagnosed with at the age of 19. Steve always put others in front of himself, and inspired family and friends to pursue their dreams no matter the challenges.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia "Patti," and his two sons, William "Billy" and Dennis "Deny."
Funeral services from the Johnson-McGinley Funeral Home, 2652 Highway 138, Wall, will be held 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Innocents Church. Interment at St. Ann Cemetery, Wall. Friends will be received Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Vernon Fire Department, P.O. Box 461, Vernon, NJ 07462 or Shark River Hills Fire Department, 200 Brighton Ave., Neptune, NJ 07753 in Stephen's name would be greatly appreciated.
