Arthur KORNFELD Obituary

KORNFELD
Arthur, age 89, of Venice, Florida, formerly of Yonkers, New York passed away peacefully Saturday morning, February 1, 2014 in Sarasota, Florida. Beloved father to Keith (and wife Barbara); beloved grandfather to Steven; beloved brother to Neva Burns. Artie was a World War II Army veteran; a New York City Junior High School science teacher; and an optician at Bergen Mall in the good old days before it was Bergen Towne Center and when it was a strip mall. He enjoyed travel, having made it to just about every state in the union and almost every continent on the globe. He was an avid bridge player, New York Times crossword aficionado, music lover and armchair sportsman. Graveside service will take place on Tuesday, February 4 at 1:30 PM at Mount Hebron Cemetery in Queens. The family will receive nearby friends and relatives who can join us at home on Wednesday, February 5 and Thursday, February 6 from 2-8 PM and will again honor his memory in the springtime with those who cannot join us now. The family also looks forward to celebrating his life with his friends in Florida in the near future. The family expresses their sincere appreciation to those in Florida who were there physically for Artie when this sudden illness, geography and knee surgery kept us away - Marguerite, Theresa, and Joyce - and thanks and apologies to those others whose names we do not know. His memory would be honored with donations to the charity of your choice.
