Carol Pergola Obituary

PERGOLA Carol Ann (nee Conti) age 64 of Garfield died on May 4, 2009. She was born in Jersey City, raised in Union City settling in Garfield 21 years ago. She graduated from St. Elizabeth's College with her teaching degree and a Novitiate with the Sisters of Charity, Convent Station, NJ. She was a teacher for 15 years working at St. Bridget's Parochial School, Jersey City, St. Augustine Parochial School, Union City, and St. Aloysius Parochial School, Jersey City. She then became a medical Assistant for Bergen Cardiology, Teaneck for 22 years retiring in 2008. She was a parishioner of Most Holy Name Church, Garfield, a Eucharistic Minister and a volunteer with the decorating committee. She was also in the Hoboken Renaissance Singers, and a CCD Teacher at St. Augustine's Church, Union City. She is predeceased by her parents Anthony & Helen Conti and a sister Joan Castro. She is survived by her husband of 25 years Mark, a son Mark Anthony, and 3 sisters Catherine Lawlor, Rosemarie Conti and Maureen Casciano. The funeral is Thursday, May 7, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home, 180 Harrison Ave., Garfield (973-340-7077) at 8:30 AM followed by a 9:30 am mass at Most Holy Name Church, Garfield. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery, Saddle Brook. Visiting Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. In lieu of flowers the family is accepting donations for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
