John Eckel Obituary
John "Jack", age 74, of Dumont, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at Care One at Valley, Westwood. Jack was born in Jersey City, NJ to Elizabeth and Theodore Eckel. He was the former Mayor of the Borough of Dumont from 1980-1983. Past president of the Dumont Board of Education. He served as the Borough of Dumont Town Administrator before his retirement. Jack was a former member of the Shade Tree Commission and Clean Communities Committee. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the Care One at Valley team for their exceptional care.
Predeceased by his beloved wife Marie and their son Gregory (2003). Jack will be sadly missed by his devoted daughter Laura and her spouse Joanne Piccininni, his two sons; John Jr. and Theodore Eckel, his cherished grandchildren; Denise Marinaro and her husband Michael, Stephanie Magnotta and her husband Jesse, Gregory Eckel, Brianna Eckel, John Eckel III, Stephen Ingram, and great-granddaughter, Haiden Magnotta.
Funeral Mass Saturday, July 30, 2016, 9:30 AM, St. Mary's R.C. Church, Dumont. Visitation Friday 4-8 PM at the Frech-McKnight Funeral Home, 161 Washington Avenue, Dumont. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dumont Volunteer Ambulance Corps or the Dumont Volunteer Fire Dept.
