John Sweezy Sr.

LITTLE FALLS - John H. "Jack" Sweezy Sr., 78, of Surfside Beach, S.C., died April 19, 2013.

Jack was born Oct 9, 1934, in Paterson, to John J. and Mary (nee Murphy) Sweezy. Growing up he and his family lived above the Chestnut Grove Hotel in Singac, which his family owned. He attended Holy Angels Grammar School and Passaic Valley High School.

Jack served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was owner/operator of John H. Sweezy Plumbing and Heating and also served as building/plumbing inspector for the Township of Little Falls. Jack served as a volunteer for the Little Falls Fire Department, Singac Company #3, where he held various positions including that of assistant chief from 1959-1976. Jack played on the township softball team for several years as well as enjoyed surf fishing in Long Beach Island and Hunting in New York State. He later became property manager for Cali Associates Inc. at Tenby Chase Apartments in Delran, NJ retiring in 2001 after 25 years.

Jack was also involved in the Moose Lodges in both Delran and Murrells Inlet, S.C. as well as the Elks Lodge in Murrells Inlet.

Husband of Deborah (nee Ross). Father of John Jr. of Little Falls, James of Riverside, Patrick and his wife Joan of Delran, and Pamela and her husband Joseph Cannataro of Little Falls. Jack is also survived by grandchildren Jacob, Benjamin, Sarah, Brooke, Briana, Rachel, Mia, and Scarlett.
