Joseph A., passed away on January 13, 2017. Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 from 5 to 8 PM at Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home, 582 Springfield Ave., Westfield. www.higginsandbonner.com A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 10:00 AM at St. Helen's RC Church in Westfield. He is survived by his wife Barbara, of 48 years, his son Christopher and his wife Corrie and his daughter Stacey and her husband TJ. Joseph was very proud of his five grandchildren Thomas, Michael, Zoë, Carly & Tyler.
Joseph was born in West New York, NJ, raised his family in Oradell, and recently moved to Westfield NJ to be close to his children. He graduated from Memorial HS in West New York, NJ and then graduated from Kutztown University where he was honored in the football Hall of Fame. Joseph also served his country as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps. After serving, he continued his education graduating from Pratt Institute and then working as an Industrial Designer in NYC. Following retirement, Joseph continued to be involved with the Saddle River Marine Corps but he found most joy in being with his grandchildren whether it was sitting at a baseball game, a soccer game, a volleyball game, basketball game or at a dance performance. He also loved "Sunday dinners" with all of his family!
