SCOTT
Reuben "Honeyboy", age 77, of Paterson, NJ, passed away, Friday, March 28, 2014. Reuben was born April 15, 1936, in Gadsden, SC to Singleton and Louise (Higgins) Scott. He graduated from Webber High School in Eastover, SC in 1955 and then enlisted in the US Army immediately after, where he completed his term with an honorable discharge.
Reuben served more than 30 years at the Dia Color Pope Chemical Plant of Paterson prior to his retirement. There he was nicknamed "Big Ben." He received several awards for his dedicated service and mayoral recognition for his civic neighborhood contributions. He enjoyed life with family and friends. Reuben is survived by his loving wife Lucille Scott of Paterson and children, Gwendolyn Scott, Marie Goodwin, James Goodwin, Francis Williams, all of Gadsden, SC and Marquetta Scott of Paterson, NJ. Grandchildren, Jaquan Edwards and Shawn Collins, Jr. (Grandpa's buddy) both of Paterson.
He has a host of siblings, additional grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss him greatly. A special acknowledgement goes to a special cousin, Elizabeth Shiver, and a very dear brother-like friend, Allen "Mitch" Bethune who fought with him to the end.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate his life on Tuesday, April 1st, 2014, 12 noon at The St. Luke Baptist Church, 139-145 A.M. Tyler Place (Carroll St.), Paterson, NJ. Interment, Church of God Cemetery in Gadsden, SC. Visitation will be held from 11-12 noon at the church. Arrangements by The Carnie P.
