Barbara Gray Obituary
CANTERBURY - Barbara T. Gray, 70, passed away on Thursday, May 04, 2017 at W.W. Backus Hospital in Norwich after a brief battle with cancer. Her loving family was by her side. She was born on February 14, 1947, daughter of the late Arnold Snerchia and Elizabeth (Denault) Senerchia. Barbara married Robert L. Gray, Sr. on December 16, 1967 in Greenwich, RI. He survives her.
As Barbara always enjoyed cooking, she was employed at Hamilton Pavilion, St. Jude Common, and finally as a Food and Nutrition Supervisor at Backus, before retiring. She loved spending time with her family and friends, as they were the light of her life.
In addition to her spouse, Barbara is survived by her son, Robert L. Gray, Jr. and wife Ramona of Lisbon; daughter, Lyn Henderson and husband Duane of Oakdale; daughter, Melissa Gil and husband Joseph of Canterbury; brother, Louis Senerchia and wife Cindy of Coventry, RI; sister, Lorraine Silva of Coventry, RI; grandchildren, Nathan Gray-Gil, Neely Henderson, Megan Henderson, Katie Henderson, Matthew Gil, Maxwell Gray, and Samuel Gray; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Arnold E. Senerchia.
The family would like to thank Barbara's niece, Bonnie Tessier, for her love and care in her final weeks. They would also like to thank Barbara's Backus family for all their support.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Leffler Funeral Home, 30 N. Main Street, Jewett City. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 11:00am at Ames Cemetery, Lisbon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. I am so sorry to hear of Barbara's passing. I worked with her at Backus in the 2002 time frame. She was always upbeat and had a smile on her face. I send my deepest condolences to the family and friends.

Ramona and family, I am very sad hearing about the loss of Barbara. I loved working with her at Backus Hospital. She was a loving person and always talked about retiring to spend more time with her grand children. I will miss her very much and will think about the wonderful conversations we had. No words can ever express my feelings or thoughts of this passing of a wonderful friend. Always there for so many of us. I for one will always be so grateful for how she was always there for me during what I called my darkest days. No matter what time of day or night she was there to listen. Such an inspiration to me and so many others. What and how she lived her life will go on through her children as she taught them well. Will miss you so much my friend but I know you will soar with the angels and what a better angel to have on my side. Rest in peace my friend.
