Hilda Zizik

Hilda Zizik June 2, 1919 - April 16, 2011 Waterford - Hilda (Massad) Zizik, 91 formerly of 95 Clark ln, was called to the Lord on Saturday April 16, 2011 at Fountain View Care Center in Waterford. Hilda was born at home in Norwich on June 2, 1919 the daughter of Solomom and Thecla Massad. Her family moved to New london in 1927 where she attended St. Mary's school then graduated from W.M.I. in New London. She was a former employee at SNET Co as a clerk. She married Walter Zizik of Norwich, October 6, 1956. Besides her large Lebanese family that she was devoted to and so proud of, Hilda was a volunteer and leader in many organizations. She was President of the Association for Retarded Children of Southeastern Connecticut and was an advocate for mentally challenged people. Hilda was an officer, chaplain, secretary and loyal member of the local NARFE as well as a long standing member of St. Ann's Melkite Church in Waterford where she was a member of the St. Ann's ladies society. A perfect day for Hilda was attending mass at St. Ann's and then spending the day with family. Her love of cards and games were shared with many and passed on to her children and grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Walter Zizik and their beloved son Andrew Zizik. She also was the last surviving sibling in her family and we find comfort knowing she is having a rousing game of cards with Lucy, Dave, Rose and Nick as well as her other family members who have been waiting for her. She is survived by her son Joe Zizik of Oakdale, his wife Roberta, grandchildren Melanie, Kristina and Rick Lenda and Justin Zizik and Angela Mercer. Also, son John Zizik of Newington, his wife Kathy and grandchildren Kyle, Kevin and Brian. She has two great grandchildren, Ricky and Lily Lenda. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, all who she loved dearly. A special thank you to Billieann who was her caregiver for two years. Lastly, to her new family at Fountain View. Thank you for the care and compassion shown to Hilda in her final year. Your concern and grief at her passing has touched us all.
