Robert (Bob) Sawyer 1948 - 2020
Windham - Bob Sawyer, 72, of Windham, CT suddenly ended his journey on earth on December 16, 2020. He was the beloved husband of Dency Sargent and the first-born son in his large and loving family. Bob was born February 18, 1948. His life focused on service and family. He was proud to be a Navy Veteran and to serve his Willimantic community including participating in local politics, the Masons, and the Burning Bush Ministry. He owned his own business as a Hearing Aid Specialist and served many, many people in southeastern Connecticut. He was a foundational member of the Co-Counseling International community contributing leadership in many different roles.
Bob had many passions including cars, music (especially blue grass & Irish), growing daylilies, traveling with Dency, a recent enthusiasm for pop-up campers, summer days on Peaks Island, Maine, and frequent adventures with his 15-year-old grandson and best buddy Jasper. Jasper said of Bob, "Bobpa spends time making things fun." Bob liked to cook, and every year served as chef for the July 4th picnic and the Christmas dinner party held at his home.
Bob was predeceased by his father Robert and his brothers James and Neil. He is survived by many beloved family members: his mother Joyce Sawyer, his wife Dency Sargent, his son Alan Sawyer, his daughter Stephanie Boutot and her family, his daughter Cathy Sargent and her son Jasper Mele Sargent, his sisters Dianne Cvercko and Pamela Piper and their families, his brothers Gene, Paul, John, Patrick, Michael and their families, and the families of brothers James and Neil. A high point of each year for Bob and Dency was the large Thanksgiving gathering of Bob's family at "The Farm" in Maine.
As his mother said to his wife on the day Bob moved on, "Bob was a good man." Bob's family will have a service at their convenience.
