Robert "Bob" Grubb

1925 - 2010

Robert "Bob" Grubb age 85 of Purcellville, VA died October 10, 2010 at INOVA Loudoun Hospital.

Born on April 23, 1925 in Hillsboro, VA he was the son of the late Dr. W. Hugh Grubb, Sr. and Jessie Bowers Grubb.

Mr. Grubb was a member of the Hillsboro United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Loudoun Rescue Squad, the Hillsboro Ruritan Club, and a longtime member of the Lovettsville Farmer's Club. He was a former member of the Rohrersville Band of Rohrersville, MD; served as a former Special Deputy Sheriff and substitute mail carrier. Bob retired as a farmer after forty two years. Bob was an honorary member of the "Highty Tighty Alumni Band" at Virginia Tech. He had a lifelong love affair with the Short Hill Mountain and the Blue Ridge Mountains beyond.

He was predeceased by his brother W. Hugh Grubb, Jr. He is survived by his wife Carolyn P. Grubb of Purcellville, VA; son Robert James Grubb of Hillsboro, VA; two nephews W. Hugh Grubb, III of Hillsboro, VA; Tom Potts of Lovettsville, VA; five nieces Lee Stevens of Richmond, VA; Ruth Hannah Elizabeth Grubb of Herndon, VA; Sarah Margaret Stevens of Connecticut; Marla French of Maryland; Heather Potts of Lovettsville, VA; brother-in-law Allan Potts of Lovettsville, VA; and three aunts Geraldine Potts James of Purcellville, VA; Virginia Peacock of Paeonian Springs, VA; and Mae Peacock of Ashburn, VA.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 17, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. Hillsboro United Methodist Church with Rev. Philip Brumback officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery.
