Frank Jakubicek Obituary

Frank W. Jakubicek Sr.

Born: Aug. 4, 1934; in Chicago, IL

Died: Jan. 9, 2015; in McHenry, IL

Frank W. Jakubicek Sr., age 80, of Johnsburg, died Friday, January 9, 2015, at Centegra Hospital-McHenry.

Born August 4, 1934, to Anton and Rose (Sivak) Jakubicek, Frank grew up in Chicago. On Sept. 17, 1960, he married Mary Frances Kenzinger at St. Kilian Church in Chicago. They became residents of Johnsburg in 1964. Frank was a U. S. Army veteran, serving in Germany during the Korean War. After his discharge from the military in 1957, he began his career in law enforcement as a trooper with the State Police. His career with the State Police spanned 35 years, and Frank retired in 1992 after achieving the rank of Master Trooper.

For many years, he served his community as a volunteer fireman with the McHenry Township Fire Protection District at Station 2. A good sport, Frank also participated regularly in the firefighters waterfights competition. Devout in his faith, Frank embraced the concept of supporting seminary students. Throughout the years, he assisted many seminarians in pursuing their vocation.

Favorite pastimes included visiting the great north woods, fishing, talking about fishing and taking meticulous care of his yard and lawn. Most importantly, he was always there for his family. Those who knew him will fondly remember a gentleman with a good sense of humor who loved to joke.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Mary Fran; four children, Rose (Eric) Gates of Hayward, WI, Frank Jr. (Ellen) Jakubicek of Cary, Teri (Mike) Radcliffe of Hayward, and Gail(the late Fred) Rossi of Shreveport, LA; nine grandchildren, Katie, Claire, Olivia, Abigail, Frank, Lisa (Cory), Rachel, Fred III, and Joe; three great-grandchildren, Mary, Elizabeth, and Abraham; and a brother, Tony (Marge) Jakubicek.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
