Katherine J. "Toots" Kohley, 90, of Huntley passed away March 2, 2023, at Amita Alexian Brothers Hospice in Elk Grove Village. She was born August 23, 1932, in Aurora the daughter of Edward and Catherine (Pattermann) Diehl. She married Donald J. Kohley on April 11, 1953, in West Chicago. Toots was a 1950 graduate of West Chicago Community High School. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and Home Makers Club. Toots loved gardening, flowers, and vegetables, canning, selling sweet corn on the farm, and passing down the job to the third generation. Toots was a farmer's wife and loved her job at that, even though she disliked animals, she loved the hard labor. In her later years, with developing dementia, her favorite hobby was word search and watching Wheel of Fortune. The family would like to give a special thank you to Amita Alexian Brothers Hospice for the wonderful care that Toot's received. She is survived by her children, Karen (Mark) Ostrander, Donna (Thomas) Kalsow, Thomas (Becky) Kohley, and Sandra (Mick) Deutsch; grandchildren, Melissa Ostrander, Sara (Willson) Rasavongxay, Jason (Allie) Kalsow, Brad (Jenn) Kalsow, Katelyn (Pete) Schultz, Emily (Kevin) Carlson, Jacob (fiancé, Alison Kwak) Kohley, Kyle (Brandy) Strisssel, Colt (Stephanie) Strissel; great-grandchildren, Parker, Hudson, Luke, Jensen, Linden, Bentley, Baby Carlson & Baby Schultz on the way, brother, Paul (Mary) Diehl; and sister, Carol Cibulskis; sister-in-law, Susan Kohley; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don on April 30, 2014; six brothers; and three sisters. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 AM Wednesday, March 8 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Rd. in Huntley. Burial will follow in the St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 7, at the church from 4 to 8 PM and continues Wednesday from 9 to 9:45 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be directed to St. Mary's Church, or Alzheimer's Foundation at www.alz.org
