Camila Biscocho Obituary

CAMILA "MAY" BISCOCHO GARY, IN Camila "May" Biscocho, age 71 of Gary, IN passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at Methodist Hospital Southlake in Merrillville, IN. May was born in the Taal, Batangas, Philippines on July 15, 1945, to Roman and Felipa Biscocho. She was the second of ten children. She attended elementary school at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, high school at San Juan Institute where she graduated Valedictorian. She graduated with a degree of Bachelors of Liberal Arts at the University of Santo Tomas. She pursued her teaching career teaching high school English and Algebra in Our Lady of Caysasay (Taal, Batangas), San Juan Institute- Recoletos (San Juan, Batangas). Her last teaching job was at Concordia College in Manila before she moved to the United States in 1979. May lived in Gary, IN with her brother Dan. She worked part-time during election time and in the summer at the Gary Park Department. May was an active member of St. Mary of the Lake in Gary, IN. She enjoyed crocheting, putting photo albums together, watching soap operas and most of all tending her flowers and vegetables. She is survived by her brothers Dan, Mario (Tessie), Eddie (Glenda), Lito (Rita); sisters Aida Biscocho, Fe (Bill) Schanz, and Dr. El de Rosales, numerous nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and grand- nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roman and Felipa, sister Aurea and brother Rico. The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the physicians and the ICU staff of Methodist Hospital Southlake for the excellent and compassionate care that was provided to May. The family also would like to acknowledge Elma, May's caregiver who provided physical care and more importantly became a friend. Thank you to all who have provided prayers and emotional support during this very difficult time. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2017, at St. Mary of the Lake Church, 6060 Miller Ave., Gary, IN 46403 at 11:00 AM with Bishop Emeritus Dale J. Melczek officiating. Viewing for family and friends will be held on Saturday afternoon, February 18, 2017, at Geisen Funeral, Cremation & Reception Centre, 606 E. 113th/ South St. Ave, Crown Point, IN 46307 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 6:00 PM.
