Joseph F. McCall

Joseph F. McCall Valparaiso, IN Joseph F. McCall, passed away at the age of 77 of Parkinson's Disease on July 5, 2007 at St. Mary Medical Center, Hobart, IN. Born in Baltimore, Maryland to the late John H. McCall, Sr. and Margaret A. McCall (nee Ruskell) and raised on Grantley Street. Professor McCall was a graduate of St. Bernardine Parochial School., St. Charles College Seminary and Loyola College of Maryland. Received his Masters degree from the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore and completed Doctoral studies at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. While pursuing his musical career in Maryland, Professor McCall taught music at Southern High School in Baltimore, was organist and choir director at both St. Agnes Church, Catonsville and St. Luke's Church, Sparrows Point, was a music professor at Valparaiso University from 1959 until his retirement in 1991 at which time he became Emeritus. An organist and choir director at St. Mary of the Lakes Church in Miller, IN, from 1964 until 1997 when he was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease and Diabetes, July of 1999. Professor McCall was admitted to Sebo's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center where he received excellent care until his death. Survived by sister Rita (McCall) Jacobsen of Timonium, Maryland; brother-in-law John D. Jacobsen of Timonium, Maryland and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by brother Monsignor John H. McCall. Friends may call Wednesday, July 11, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m., St. Paul Catholic Church, 1855 W. Harrison Blvd., Valparaiso, IN with Monsignor FJ Melevage, celebrant, and Rev. Joseph Pawlowski, con-celebrant. Interment at St. Paul Cemetery. Memorials to the St. Paul Building Fund.
