Rev. Lugene A. Bazuin "Archie"

God is so good. On January 12, 2024 Lugene Bazuin, age 97 was called to glory. Lugene was born July 30, 1926 in Mc Bain, MI. At the age of 17 he was called by God to be a minister. He graduated Calvin College in 1947 and Calvin Theological Seminary 1950. He went on to pastor churches in Iowa, Illinois, Colorado and Indiana. He faithfully shepherded his congregations and encouraged them in their walk with the Lord. He traveled to many U. S. states, Africa and South America as he was a sought out guest speaker, a pastor to fellow pastors and encouraging friend to missionaries.
He loved to share the love and grace of God through Jesus Christ in his beautiful sermons often ending with a simple invitation calling his listeners to a life of faith in the Lord. His beautiful comforting voice will be missed by all who knew him.
He was a loving husband and constant faithful companion to his sweetheart Ellie (Jansma) for 75 blessed years; caring brother to Duke (Marilyn) Bazuin; in laws, Jack (Betty) Smedema and Nancy (Lee) Jansma; supportive and loving father to Dan (Theresa) Bazuin, Lou Anne (Bart) Sybenga and Mary (Rich) Doornbos. He dearly loved his six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He prayed for his "wonderful family" everyday.
Preceded in death by parents, John and Winnie (Schripsema) Bazuin; beloved stepmother, Effie (Schripsema) Bazuin; brother, Bill (Joann) Bazuin ; sister, Wilma (Don) De Young ; sister-in-laws, Betty (Jack) Smedema , Joann (Bill) Bazuin and Marilyn (Duke) Bazuin; brother in laws, Don (Wilma) De Young, Lee (Nancy)Jansma; nieces, Carrie Bazuin and Dawn De Young; infant son, Thomas Lee Bazuin; infant grandson, Samuel Aslan Doornbos
Rev. Bazuin will be laid to rest on Friday, January 19, 2024 at Munster Christian Reformed Cemetery, Munster, IN with a family private burial. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 9:30 to 11:30 AM at Munster Church, 214 Ridge Road, Munster, with services immediately following with Pastor Jim Hollendoor officiating. Services will be livestreamed on Munster Church website. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to Lansing Christian School, Roseland Christian Ministries or The William J. Riley Memorial Residence Hospice, Munster, IN. Rev. Bazuin was loved by many and he will be truly missed by all. Schroeder Lauer Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements and care of Rev. Lugene Bazuin.
