Vera Roknich Obituary

VERA ROKNICH HOBART, IN
Vera Roknich, 75 of Hobart, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Krusevac, Serbia on March 17, 1938. Vera came to Gary, IN in 1957 where she met and married her loving husband, Eli, who survives, in September of 1957. She was a lifelong member of St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church in Merrillville, IN and its Circle of Serbian Sisters. Also, a very dedicated member of "King Petar II Lodge 16" of the Serbian National Federation. Mrs. Roknich was preceded in death by her parents: Drago and Desanka Kicanovic. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Eli (Ilija) Roknich; children: Sam (Natalie) Roknich, Nadine (Dragan) Djordjevic, and Nancy Roknich; grandchildren: Ilija Roknich, Natalie and Alexander Djordjevic, and Andrea Beric. Vera was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and a brave, caring woman with a most generous heart. She will be fondly remembered and dearly missed. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 14, 2013 directly at 10:00 AM St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church, 9191 Mississippi St., Merrillville with V. Rev Marko Matic officiating. Interment at Calumet Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, September 13, 2013 at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point from 4:00-8:00 PM with a Pomen service at 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church.
