The joy of this new spring is diminished, the world a bit sadder, with Ed's passing. I was privileged to make his acquaintance, not on the well-traveled pathways of professional physics so familiar to him but along the footpaths of history that his wife Carol and I sometimes shared. Having known both of them has enriched my life.
