GLYNNE WOOLFENDEN Obituary

WOOLFENDEN--Glynne Hiller. Writer Glynne Hiller Woolfenden, 98, died in Sag Harbor on January 6, 2022. Her family moved from Manchester, England to NYC during WW II, and at 17, she married Joseph Nahem. After the war, they lived in Paris, where they separated. She writes about this in her 2018 memoir, Passport to Paris. She married Antoine Hiller in 1955. Glynne worked as the beauty editor for American Girl magazine and wrote Put Your Best Look Forward. She married Brian Woolfenden in 1969 and they lived in Larchmont for 35 years. Glynne taught courses on the French writer Colette at the New School and wrote articles about her for the New York Times Magazine and the Washington Post, as well as a script for a Colette series, which she worked on at the Bellagio Center. In Larchmont, in 1985, she mobilized her neighbors into passing the nation's first law limiting gardening equipment noise. She is survived by daughters Catherine and Colette Hiller, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
